Warnings About Templates and Add-Ins
When you open a database or database template, you
might be prompted with a security alert. Databases can include
potentially unsafe functions using the Microsoft Jet Expression Service
and additional programming code called macros, which can contain
viruses. You can protect your computer from viruses by running
up-to-date antivirus software and setting your macro security level to
high for maximum protection or medium for lesser protection. When you
set the macro security level to high, some database functionality, such
as wizards, is disabled. If macro security is set to medium, database
users will be prompted to enable macros. Prompts also might appear to
block potentially unsafe functions.
Set Macro Security
Click the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security.
Click Security Level tab, and then click the Medium option.
Click the Trusted Publishers tab.
Select or clear the Trust All Installed Add-ins And Templates check box.
Click OK, and then if necessary, click Yes to block unsafe expressions and click OK to restart Access.
Enable Macros When You Open a Database
- Open a database with macros.
- If a macro security alert appears, click one of the following:
- Open to enable macros and open the database.
- Cancel to keep the current macro security level and stop the open database task.
