How to Protect System Files, Folders, and Settings With Lock Folder XP

You can use Lock Folder XP's wizards to quickly protect selected system files, folders, and settings.
  1. If needed, run the Lock Folder XP software by clicking Start > Programs > Lock Folder XP and clicking the Lock Folder XP icon, or by double-clicking the Lock Folder XP shortcut on your Windows desktop.
  2. If the Lock Folder XP Wizard does not open automatically, select the File > Lock Folder XP Wizard. The Lock Folder XP Wizard opens.
  3. Select Security tricks.
  4. After you select the option you want, click Next. The Wizard leads you through the process of hiding files or folders.
  5. Choose the objects you want to protect. Lock Folder XP lets you protect: Control Panel, date/time settings.
  6. Click Next and Finish to apply protection to the items you selected.
  7. Those items that are protected cannot be opened or accessed. For example:
    • If you select Control Panel, then nothing in your control panel can be selected.
    • If you select Date/Time, then your system clock and date become inaccessible.
The items you selected to protect are displayed in Lock Folder XP's protection list. Protection remains in force if the following are true:
    • An item is listed in Lock Folder XP
    • An item has protection ENABLED (by clicking the Unlocked button)
Protection is disabled if:

    • An item is deleted or removed from Lock Folder XP (the item is selected and the Remove button clicked)
    • An item has Protection DISABLED (by clicking the Locked button)
